ALCESTER
This is a small market town nine miles west of Stratford-upon-Avon
and only two miles from Ragley Hall, the home of the Seymour
family. It is at the junction of roads from Evesham, Stratford,
Birmingham and Droitwich. It dates back at least to Roman times.
Tudor cottages surround the church in which is the splendid tomb of
Fulk Greville. The Town Hall dates from the seventeenth century,
during which time dissenters were numerous in the town. Kings
Coughton is within the parish.
