LONG COMPTON

The village is about four miles north west of Chipping Norton and much of it lines the A34 Stratford to Oxford road. The church, with a thatched lychgate, dates from the early thirteenth century but as with so many churches was 'restored' in 1862, though a fifteenth century chapel is still intact. There is a Friends' Meeting House in the village dating from 1670. Western Park, owned by the wealthy Sheldon family is partly in this parish. Fullbrook and Weston are hamlets.
