PACKWOOD

The village is about four miles north east of Henley-in-Arden, and almost part of the built-up area of Knowle and Dorridge. Packwood Hall, now a farm house and of no great age, does have a fine moat. Packwood House is of timber-framed construction and is owned by the National Trust and well worth a visit. It was built in the fifteenth century but enlarged and partly rebuilt last century. It was the home of the Featherston family. The clipped yews, dating from the seventeenth century are a tourist attraction; the grouping is said to represent the Sermon on the Mount. Packwood is now part of the parish of Lapworth.
