POLESWORTH

The present large village is about four miles south east of Tamworth. Pooley Hall was built in 1509 and is one of the oldest brick structures in the county. There was a Norman abbey in Polesworth and the church, approached through the abbey gateway, incorporates some of the walls of the abbey church.
