SHUSTOKE

The spelling 'Shustock' is sometimes found. The village is three miles north east of Coleshill and very few old buildings survive. The church (at Church End) was built in the reign of Edward II, but most if it was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in 1886 with the original tower and spire incorporated. Sir William Dugdale, the historian, was born here in 1605 and bought Blyth Hall after his marriage. Bentley was originally a Chapelry of Shustoke and then became part of Merevale.
